28 April 2025 marks World Day for Safety and Health at Work, promoted by the International Labour Organisation (ILO). This year’s theme is ‘Revolutionizing health and safety at work: artificial intelligence and digitisation in the world of work’. The importance of the World Day for Health and Safety at Work Established in 2003 by the ILO, this day aims to raise awareness of the importance of preventing occupational injuries and illnesses. It is also an occasion to commemorate workers who have lost their lives or suffered work-related injuries. In Italy, the day coincides with the International Day for Asbestos Victims and World Immunisation Week. The campaign for the Day aims to shed light on how new technologies are transforming occupational health and safety, including through automation, the use of intelligent occupational health and safety tools and monitoring systems, ‘extended reality’ and virtual reality, and algorithmic work management. ‘28 April reminds us that safety at work is not a cost, but an investment in human capital and is an ethical and social imperative,’ says Itway Group President G. The Guidarello Prize for Author Journalism is an award presented annually by the Municipality of Ravenna and Confindustria to the journalist who particularly distinguished himself in the last calendar year. The Guidarello Giovani Award brings schools in touch with local businesses. The 18th edition of the Guidarello Giovani Prize, named after the Ravenna journalist Lorenzo Tazzari, involved 350 students and 15 classes from high schools in the province of Ravenna. The project involved visiting the students in some local companies, and the Itway Group was happy to host them in its Ravenna headquarters. The objective was to make reportages telling about the activities of the companies visited through the communication tools they considered most suitable. We presented our most innovative area to the students: ICOY, artificial intelligence at the service of safety in the workplace. The prize for the best report in digital format went to class 4°A SIA of the ‘Oriani’ technical institute in Faenza with a paper on the Itway Group. We are very proud to have participated in this initiative, which is part of the project ‘Talking to the future about the future’. ‘For us, these moments of exchange with the Schools are fundamental,’ says Group Chairman G. Andrea Farina, who continues, ‘young people are the key to our development, and getting young people into our schools is vital lymph for the growth not only of the territory but also of our country. ‘Our duty is to educate young people on safety in the workplace and above all to make workplaces safe places to work’. The Liceo scientifico ‘Oriani’ of Ravenna won the 2024 edition of the Guidarello Giovani by winning the prize for the text-format reportage. The work, which turned out to be the best overall, was produced by class 4°D, which visited the Rosetti Marino company. The jury, led by Stefano Gismondi, president of the training organisation Il Sestante Romagna, gave the following reasons for their choice: ‘The work deserved the highest score for its ability to tell a meaningful company story, which not only highlights values and objectives, but also involves the reader in the human and operational journey that has made the company a success. The reportage went beyond the simple description of company facts, managing to convey the authenticity and emotion that make the company an example of excellence in the energy sector’. The award ceremony took place at the Alighieri Theatre, where the young people listened to the testimony of the young actress from Ravenna, Ludovica Barbarito, star of the TV series ‘They Killed the Spider-Man – the Legendary Story of the 883’.

As of Tuesday 1 October 2024, the Ministry of Labour and Social Policies introduced a new regulation for obtaining a credit licence, an initiative aimed at ensuring safety and legality in work operations at temporary or mobile construction sites. This licence was formally established by Legislative Decree No. 81 of 2008, and its recent amendments were included in PNRR Decree 2024. Objectives of the Regulation The Regulation stipulates that companies and self-employed workers must fulfil specific requirements in order to obtain a licence. This includes registration with the Chamber of Commerce, possession of the Single Document of Contributory Regularity (DURC), and fulfilment of the training obligations under Legislative Decree No. 81. The licence will be issued in digital format through the National Labour Inspectorate portal, simplifying the verification process for the competent bodies. Necessary Requirements To receive the licence, companies must prove: Chamber of Commerce registration  Compliance with training obligations  Possession of fiscal and safety documentation, such as the Risk Assessment Document (DVR).  The application can be submitted by the companies’ legal representatives or by self-employed workers, also through proxies.  Suspension and Revocation Procedures  The regulation also provides for strict control measures. In the case of fatal accidents or serious incapacity, the National Labour Inspectorate has the power to suspend the licence for up to twelve months. One year after revocation, it is possible to apply for a new licence.
