Technical Features

ICOY® is the outcome of Itway’s data science and artificial intelligence research. These systems are entirely MADE in Italy and can detect if individuals are present in a dangerous area. They continuously improve through the ICOY AI™, which self-learns and minimizes false alarms.

An Effective Response Thanks to Technological Advancements.

The Itway ICOY® R&D team had to identify and overcome the limitations of commonly used technologies in workplace safety for detecting the presence of individuals in a danger zone:

It can be applied in industrial environments with high metal presence (iron and its derivatives), where Radio Frequency (RF) motion detection is not feasible.

It can be applied in workspaces with heat sources (ovens, steam, compressors, heat sinks, etc.) where basic infrared or Bluetooth motion detection systems cannot be used.

It complies with privacy regulations, as it detects the presence of individuals without needing tags.

Applicability in environments where regular image analysis through cameras, if used, generates numerous false alarms.

The system activates upon detecting a person within the danger zone and deactivates after 0.5 seconds when no person is detected in the danger zone. Cameras capture 30 frames per second, and the system analyzes each frame in search of people and other moving objects, considering their speed, within the danger zone dynamically.

The strength of ICOY® solutions lies in the continuous learning and flexibility of ICOY AI™. Today, ICOY AI™ can recognize even a small portion of the body to identify it as a human being. ICOY AI™ focuses solely on human beings and ensures their safety. It selectively detects to protect the human, recognizing a foot or an arm, to save the individual in its entirety.

A technological challenge conquered at the heart of the analysis unit.

GPUs (instead of CPUs) now provide the processing speed required for these real-time solutions. Around this GPU, an industrial computer (analysis unit) has been built to host the ICOY AI™ software. We have chosen the technological and market leader, NVIDIA.

ICOY® solutions do not interact in any way with the operational functions of the vehicle or with the safety devices already present on the vehicle. They do not fall under the obligations of the Machinery Directive and do not interfere with CE marking.
