ICOY MOVER™
ICOY® is a set of advanced systems supporting safety and accident prevention at work. In particular, reference is made to the activities that concern the storage and production areas where mobile operating vehicles such as forklifts (forklifts) or lifting equipment are used, every year, leading to many fatal accidents for investment and crushing.
In November 2024, the ICOY MOVER™ systems were awarded CERTIFICATION with CE Examination with PLe score, according to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC – Annex IX, proving that they are verified solutions that comply with the essential health and safety requirements defined in the Directive.

ICOY MOVER™
This solution has been designed and developed to immediately indicate the presence of individuals in a predefined danger zone near the transport vehicle. The driver's visibility is often limited due to the structure of the vehicle itself and objects on the ground. The solution considers the combined speeds of the vehicle and the person and activates alarms depending on the direction of movement. ICOY MOVER™ employes various Detection & Tracking algorithms for people to deduce their approach or departure from the critical zone.

This innovative solution, developed by the Itway research team, has surpassed the inherent limitations of technologies used until now in personnel detection, such as infrared (IR), radio frequency (RF) or RADAR motion detection applications and systems. Instead, an innovative image analysis technique has been adopted, already used in many fields but never in an industrial context: Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Deep Learning. Deep Learning (*) enables AI to automatically define a set of features that can be used to create an image content classification and thus recognize the presence of people.
The system activates when a person is detected within the danger area and ends after 0.5 seconds when no person is detected in the danger area. The system analyses the camera images at a rate of 30 frames per second and each frame is processed by the AI in search of people and other moving vehicles, assessing whether they are within the boundary of the danger area in dynamic mode (taking into account the speed of the person and the forklift). For illustrative purposes, we provide a possible user interface “Danger Area Visualization.”
(*) Deep Learning is a subfield of machine learning that relies on multi-level automatic learning from input data. Each deeper level takes the output data from the previous level as input, extracting increasingly more information as depth increases.
ADAPTABILITY OF THE ICOY® SYSTEM
The scalability is the characteristic that indicates the ability of ICOY® to continue to perform well under an increased or increasing workload. A system with good scalability can maintain or even increase its level of performance or efficiency, even if operational demands increase. The ICOY MOVER™ solution includes: cameras, PC and internal display to signal, visually and with an audible alarm, the presence of people in the safety perimeter. It is also possible to signal not only the presence of people but also of other vehicles.
The same solution can be used with great success on a large number of material moving machines, including those that move loose material such as mechanical shovels and excavators. These are very dangerous vehicles and the cause of numerous accidents, including fatal ones, due to investment and crushing.

It should be noted that the scalability and modularity of the ICOY solution allows us to create customised projects for the customer, highly customised solutions based on the working environment, rules and complexity of the customised project machines.

ENTRY SOLUTION
The installation of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 3 cameras is envisaged to support the operator in situations of poor visibility, particularly when driving in reverse or in loading and unloading operations in confined spaces such as inside warehouses.

This configuration is often used for vehicles with larger dimensions and dimensions such as:

– Tow tractors (electric or diesel)
– Wheel and track loaders

LARGE SOLUTION
The installation of a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 cameras is envisaged to support the operator when driving large vehicles in both directions and during loading and unloading operations, in situations of operational complexity and poor visibility.
